Changes in HSE Courses from 1 October 2009

From 1 October 2009, HSE is introducing new arrangements to the training of first aid courses. The First Aid at Work course is currently a four day course, however, this will be reduced to three days.

A new course, Emergency First Aid at Work, will replace the current Appointed Persons course.

HSE has also introduced a half-day annual refresher update course which they strongly recommend. The HSE has recognised the need to regularly refresh and update skills in first aid.

Current certificates issued before October 2009 will still be valid. There will still be a requirement to re-validate the First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work certificates every three years. The First Aid at Work re-qualification course is a two day course and the Emergency First Aid at Work re-qualification course is a one day course.
